Route 1: From Johannesburg
via Lebombo Border
For those traveling from Gauteng, we recommend sticking to the main corridor through Mpumalanga and across the Lebombo border.

Route 2: From Phalaborwa |
via Giriyondo Border
This scenic route takes you through the heart of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park.
• Border Crossing: Enter via Phalaborwa Gate to the Giriyondo Border Post (approx. 95km).
• The Park Stretch: After border formalities, you will travel 75km on dirt roads through the Transfrontier Park. Expect regular speed bumps.
• Massangir Dam to Chokwe: Travel on an older tarred road. Be cautious of potholes and uneven surfaces for roughly 100km.
• The T-Junction: Turn right toward Chokwe (20km away). Road conditions improve here, but remain vigilant.
• Joining the EN1: From Chokwe, drive 60km to Macia, then turn onto the EN1. Enjoy a well-maintained stretch for 60km toward Xai-Xai.
• Final Approach: Pass through Xai-Xai and head toward Chidenguele.

Once you are near the resort, please prioritize our roadside signage over your GPS instructions to avoid getting lost.
1 – The Fork: Stay on the EN1 until you reach the split: Left for Vilanculos, Right for Inhambane.
2 – The Turn-Off: Follow the Inhambane road for approximately 25km. Look for the Esperanza/Lighthouse Reef signs on your right at the red gravel road.
3 – The Red Road: Follow the red gravel road for 25km until you reach the Masavanna garage.
4 – Reception: Follow our signboards from the garage to the shared Lighthouse Reef / Esperanza Reception.
⚠️ Essential Info:
Tyres: Deflate to 1.0 bar for the final 5km of deep sand.
4×4: Strictly required for resort access.
